Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday inaugurated Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State, marking a fresh chapter in the state’s political leadership.
The swearing-in ceremony, initially slated for the Coronation Hall at the Government House, was later relocated to the Africa House within the same premises.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Garo pledged his full support to the Yusuf administration, promising to contribute meaningfully to the government’s development agenda. He also assured residents of his commitment to good governance, unity, and continuity in policy implementation.
The event attracted several high-profile figures, including former governors Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Ibrahim Shekarau, alongside other top government officials and political stakeholders.
Garo’s emergence follows the resignation of former Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, who stepped down on March 27, 2026, amid political tensions, allegations of misconduct, and moves by the state House of Assembly to impeach him.
The development signals a significant shift within Kano’s political landscape as the Yusuf administration moves to stabilise governance in the state.
