The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic has approved the first semester results for the 2025/2026 academic session and ordered the withdrawal of 229 students over poor academic performance.
The decision was announced in a statement on Thursday by the Acting Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocols of the institution, John Amos Onimisi, in Lokoja.
According to the statement, the resolution was reached at the Academic Board meeting held on May 12, 2026, and presided over by the Rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, with principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and other board members in attendance.
Onimisi said the approval of results followed a thorough review by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee, which was set up to scrutinise students’ academic records across departments.
He explained that the committee carefully examined and validated submissions from various departments and schools to ensure accuracy, fairness, and strict compliance with the institution’s academic regulations.
“The committee’s report formed the basis for the Academic Board’s deliberations and final approval of the results,” he said.
He added that the Rector commended members of the committee for their diligence and professionalism, noting that their efforts had helped to strengthen academic standards and institutional integrity.
The Board said the withdrawal of the 229 students was necessary to maintain academic excellence and preserve the credibility of certificates issued by the polytechnic.
It further stated that the decision aligns with the institution’s academic policies and is aimed at promoting discipline and encouraging greater commitment among students.
