The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed that two of its employees abducted during an operation remain in captivity six days after the incident.

In a statement released on Monday in Ibadan, the company expressed concern over the fate of the workers, who were reportedly kidnapped while carrying out official duties.

IBEDC disclosed that efforts were ongoing to secure their release, noting that it is collaborating with security agencies on the matter.

“IBEDC confirms that two of its staff members in the Ogun region were abducted on Wednesday, April 29, 2026,” the statement read.

“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time. We are working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure their safe return, while also supporting their families.”

The company added that it could not release further details due to the sensitive nature of the situation, urging the public to exercise restraint as efforts to resolve the matter continue.

However, the Ogun State Police Command has denied that the abduction took place within the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command had no record of such an incident.

“No such incident happened in Ogun State. It did not happen in Ogun State. Several reporters have contacted us on the issue, but it is not within Ogun State,” he said.

He advised journalists to verify with neighbouring states, insisting that the command had nothing to respond to regarding the reported abduction.
