A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ede North, Hon. Mansur Oladimeji Tijani, has declared his readiness to provide quality representation for the people of the local government as he seeks stakeholders’ support to contest for a seat in the Osun State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Tijani made the declaration on Monday as he called for party support and a transparent primary process ahead of the May 20, 2026 primaries exercise of the APC.
Tijani, who is vying to represent Ede North constituency, said he had formally informed party leaders of his ambition and completed all necessary procedures, including obtaining the nomination form in line with the party’s timetable.
Speaking at an engagement with party leaders, aspirant said he recently visited the APC secretariat in Ede North to notify members of his intention and to update them on his preparedness for the forthcoming primaries.
“I have followed all the prescribed procedures. I have obtained my form and returned to brief party members as we prepare for the primaries scheduled for May 20, 2026,” he said.
On the forthcoming Osun governorship election slated for August 15, Tijani expressed confidence in the APC’s chances, citing what he described as widespread dissatisfaction with the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke and the competence of the party’s candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
According to him, Oyebamiji possesses the experience and capacity required to address key challenges in governance, particularly in the areas of economy, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare.
Tijani also aligned himself with the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that he would adopt the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” if elected.
“I will align with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on healthcare, security, infrastructure and education. If these are properly addressed at the grassroots, communities will become more self-reliant and poverty will be significantly reduced,” he stated.
The aspirant further dismissed claims of any unofficial or parallel primaries, insisting that the party’s timetable remains valid and binding.
“To the best of my knowledge, no such primaries have taken place. The directive from the party leadership is clear — screening will hold between May 8 and May 12, before the primaries on May 20. We are still in the race,” he added.
He, however, appealed to party leaders at all levels, including the national leadership, to ensure a free, fair and credible primary election, pledging to accept the outcome of a transparent process.
“I call on our leaders to guarantee a level playing field. If the process is free and fair, I will accept whatever result emerges,” Tijani said.
Also speaking, a party supporter from Ward 9 Apaso in Ede North, Kamorudeen Noimat, described Tijani as a grassroots mobiliser who has contributed significantly to the growth of the party in the area.
According to her, the aspirant has positively impacted all 11 wards in Ede North and enjoys widespread support among party members.
“He has done a lot for the people even before holding office. We are confident that he will do more if elected, and we urge residents to support his ambition,” she said.
