Accord Party’s Hashim group rejects Osun Govt House endorsement of Tinubu, insists ticket remains valid

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has dismissed the reported endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid by some officials of the Accord Party at the Osun State Government House, insisting that the gathering has no constitutional backing and cannot determine the party’s presidential candidate.

In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, the group maintained that Dr. Gbenga Hashim remains the Accord Party’s valid presidential candidate, having emerged through a nationwide direct primary conducted on May 30, 2026, in accordance with the Electoral Act and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the group, no meeting held outside the party’s recognised constitutional structures can invalidate the mandate given to Hashim by party members.

“No meeting convened outside the constitutional structures of the Accord Party can extinguish the mandate freely given to Dr. Hashim,” the statement read.

The movement argued that only the party’s established organs have the authority to decide its presidential direction, stressing that political meetings or endorsements cannot override the outcome of a duly conducted primary election.

GHSM described the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as “null and without political consequence,” alleging that there were attempts to frustrate Hashim’s presidential ambition.

The group also accused Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, of interfering in the internal affairs of the Accord Party, claiming that state resources were being deployed for partisan interests.

“The Nigerian people will never accept a one-party state or a sole presidential candidate imposed through political intimidation and institutional manipulation. Accord belongs to its members, not to politicians seeking temporary political advantage,” the statement added.

Expressing confidence in Hashim’s chances ahead of the 2027 general election, the group described him as a credible alternative capable of uniting Nigerians and addressing the country’s challenges.

It said its supporters across the 774 local government areas of the country would intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure what it described as the “will of the people” prevails at the polls.

GHSM further disclosed that the dispute over the Accord Party’s presidential nomination is still before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where hearing has been concluded and judgment is being awaited.

The movement cautioned against making public pronouncements on issues already before the court, insisting that Hashim would continue to pursue the matter through all available legal channels.

“The 2027 election will not be decided in government houses. It will be decided by Nigerians. No amount of political theatre can stop the rising national momentum behind the Hashim project,” the statement said.
