Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for public servants across the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The directive applies to all categories of state public servants, including local government employees and staff of tertiary institutions.

The Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, announced the decision in a circular issued on Monday, stating that the work-free day was approved to allow workers fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs for the forthcoming governorship election and future electoral exercises.

According to the circular, workers rendering essential services, including medical personnel and security operatives, are exempted from the directive. They were, however, advised to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted delivery of critical services to residents.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, urged public servants and other eligible voters, particularly those in the informal sector, to take advantage of the opportunity to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) without delay.

He stressed that the forthcoming governorship election is crucial to the future of Osun State and encouraged residents to actively participate in the democratic process.

“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” the governor said.

The governor reiterated the importance of voter participation, urging all registered voters yet to collect their PVCs to do so before the deadline to ensure they are eligible to vote in the upcoming election.
