Subomi Okoya, son of billionaire Razaq Okoya, has apologized after a viral video showed him and his brother Wahab spraying naira notes while a police officer held stacks of currency.
This act breached Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of the officer involved, condemning the unethical behavior.
Social media users, however, raised questions about why the Okoya brothers were not detained, igniting online debate.
In response to the backlash, Subomi took to X, expressing regret for his “pure and naive” actions, explaining he was unaware of the legal consequences.
He sought forgiveness and promised to refrain from such behavior in the future.
