Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched an official TikTok account to connect with the public and share his perspectives on Nigerian politics, alongside updates on his new political party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a video posted on Wednesday, El-Rufai invited TikTok users to engage with him through videos, comments, and discussions about the state of Nigerian politics and the activities of the SDP.
“This is my only and official TikTok page,” El-Rufai stated. “Please join me for videos, comments, and conversations about Nigerian politics and the initiatives of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Welcome onboard!”
El-Rufai’s TikTok account quickly gained popularity, attracting over 200,000 followers within 24 hours of its launch.
In his profile description, El-Rufai refers to himself as an “accidental public servant, certified ruffler of feathers, and deliberate SDP member.”
This move to TikTok follows El-Rufai’s recent resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his shift to the SDP on Monday.
He publicly criticized the ruling APC, accusing it of abandoning its foundational principles in favor of personal financial interests.
“The APC has deviated from the principles on which it was founded,” he remarked. “It has turned its back on the community. Everyone is pursuing their own agenda. The government has become more of a business enterprise than a governing body.”
