Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has reaffirmed her plans to visit her constituency for the Sallah celebrations, despite the recent ban on public gatherings imposed by the state government.
She dismissed rumors that her visit had been called off, urging her supporters to disregard the misinformation circulating online.
In a statement issued by her media team on Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan assured the public that the visit would proceed as scheduled.
“We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central will go ahead as planned. There has been no official communication from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit, despite what some rumors may suggest,” the statement read.
Reaffirming her commitment to her constituents, Akpoti-Uduaghan encouraged the public to join her in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr.
“As the Senator for Kogi Central, I remain deeply dedicated to engaging with my community and fostering unity. I look forward to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with everyone and continue serving the people of Kogi Central,” she stated.
The statement also assured the public that all necessary preparations were in place for a successful and joyous event, inviting all community members to join the celebration.
This confirmation comes shortly after the Kogi State Government announced a ban on public gatherings and rallies due to security concerns, following recent incidents, including the deaths of two individuals in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette, all within Kogi Local Government Area.
In a Monday statement, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, explained that the restrictions were intended to mitigate potential threats to public safety.
He further stated that intelligence reports had suggested that some individuals were planning to organize violent rallies under the guise of political and religious protests in Kogi Central.
