Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has attributed his team’s failure to secure the Premier League title to sheer misfortune, despite their strong performances in recent seasons.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, Arteta reflected on the narrow margins that have denied the Gunners major silverware.
“It’s all about being in the right place at the right moment,” the Spaniard said.
Liverpool have already been crowned Premier League champions this season, sitting 15 points ahead of Arsenal. However, Arteta pointed out that his team’s recent league campaigns could have been title-winning in different circumstances.
“Liverpool have won the title this season with fewer points than we had in the past two,” he noted. “With our points tally from those two seasons, we would’ve won the Premier League twice.”
Looking ahead to the PSG clash, Arteta remains hopeful. “Hopefully tomorrow in Paris, we are in the right moment and place to earn our spot in the final,” he added.
