Nigerian trumpeter Joshua Olusanya, popularly known as Trumpet Influencer, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR) as the new titleholder for the Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet.

This achievement follows a previous attempt in February 2024, which was disqualified after Olusanya paused his performance to drink water—an action deemed a violation of GWR’s strict guidelines.

Determined to succeed, Olusanya made a second attempt from May 9 to 10, 2025, at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, where he played the trumpet non-stop for an impressive 25 hours, 30 minutes, and 36 seconds.

He announced the successful record via Instagram under his handle #officialbossboss, sharing an official confirmation email from Guinness World Records.

The message read: “Dear Joshua Olusanya, we are thrilled to inform you that your application for Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder! Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing!”

Expressing gratitude and excitement, Olusanya wrote: “Official! I’m honoured to announce that I’ve set the First-ever Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet! A dream we collectively fought for. Thank you, Nigeria! We made history together.”

His initial attempt on February 23, 2024, lasted 24 hours and 46 minutes, but was later disqualified.

In a disqualification notice shared on May 19, 2024, GWR explained that while participants are allowed to eat and drink during the attempt, such actions must not interrupt the performance. Because Olusanya’s water break disrupted the flow of his playing, the attempt did not meet the required standards.

“As the participant drank water during the attempt, where the performance was disrupted, the attempt has been disqualified,” GWR stated, emphasizing the importance of adhering to all guidelines.

According to Guinness World Records, Olusanya undertook the challenge not just to break a record but to raise awareness about the value of instrumental music, promote music education, and inspire emerging talents to pursue their passions with persistence and purpose.
