The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has emphasized that its vision extends far beyond winning the 2027 general elections, asserting that its primary goal is to help build a stronger Nigeria and provide a credible alternative for the nation.
In an interview with Saturday PUNCH, the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, explained that the ADC remains inclusive and open to all Nigerians, regardless of their previous political affiliations.
Responding to suggestions that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) considers the ADC irrelevant due to its lack of state governors, Abdullahi dismissed the notion as shortsighted.
He said, “Let them keep underestimating us. When we launched, they said we wouldn’t last. When we formed our coalition, they predicted it would collapse in six months. Yet we’re still here — stronger. It actually works in our favor when they overlook us.”
Abdullahi stressed, however, that while others may underestimate them, the ADC is fully aware of the challenges ahead.
“We are not underestimating the size of the task before us. What we are trying to achieve is much bigger than winning an election. We aim to help build a solid and sustainable country — that’s our real mission,” he added.
He also revealed that the party is already drawing new members even before officially launching its nationwide membership drive.
“We’re not focused on hitting a specific number. Once our state-level structures are in place, you’ll see an aggressive membership campaign. But even before that, many Nigerians are already joining us daily.”
Abdullahi described the ADC as the only party currently offering Nigerians a genuine alternative, especially those disillusioned by the present administration.
“Any Nigerian whether from APC, PDP, NNPP, or no party at all who is tired of the current hardship and wants real change is welcome in the ADC. We are a coalition party, and our doors remain open to all.
“The only condition is that anyone who joins must respect and uphold the party’s core principles.”
