The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has raised serious concerns over threats to his life and that of the company’s management team.

Speaking on Thursday while receiving a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo, Ojulari alleged that certain powerful individuals are plotting to unseat him due to the reforms he is implementing in the oil and gas sector.

He stated that the reforms, which align with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to revive Nigeria’s dormant refineries, have attracted opposition from entrenched interests resisting change.

Ojulari assured that, despite the threats, the NNPCL leadership remains committed to restoring the country’s refining capacity.

He disclosed that the company is considering adopting the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) operational model as part of its broader strategy to ensure sustainable refinery operations.

Addressing PENGASSAN’s concerns about sector stability, Ojulari said “I’m not hiding from anyone. I’m not a politician. I’ll need to learn more about politics, but for me, this is a development mission and I’m ready to learn.”
