In continuation of his statewide consultation tour, frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and immediate past Deputy Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, popularly known as BOA, today stormed Ila, Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin, and Osogbo Federal Constituencies. The distinguished aspirant, who is widely regarded as the most capable and experienced among contenders for the governorship ticket, met with APC leaders to seek their support ahead of the 2026 election.
The visit was described as a “homecoming” as Alabi and his team received a rousing welcome from political leaders, party elders, and enthusiastic members across the constituencies. The reception was marked by warmth, loyalty, and expressions of trust in Alabi’s capacity to lead Osun to greater heights.
Addressing the APC leaders, Alabi passionately appealed for their consideration and endorsement of his governorship ambition. He stressed his commitment to party unity, continuity of progress, and development of the state, promising to consolidate on the achievements of the APC while bringing fresh ideas rooted in experience and sincerity.
Party leaders in Ila Federal Constituency, including Elder Oyeoke (Agba Osun), Hon. Obawale, Chief Ademola Adefila, and Hon. Bayo Oyekanmi, spoke glowingly about Alabi’s leadership style. They unanimously declared their full support for his aspiration, describing him as a loyal and dependable leader who has demonstrated rare humility and respect for his boss, former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The leaders highlighted that history is filled with strained relationships between governors and their deputies, but Alabi’s tenure was devoid of such crises. His ability to serve without rancor or controversy, they said, is a testament to his loyalty, maturity, and readiness to govern. “Anyone who successfully managed the office of Deputy Governor without discord deserves to become both the party’s candidate and the next Governor of Osun,” one leader remarked.
They further emphasized that Alabi’s wealth of experience as a Deputy Governor gives him a unique edge, providing him with the necessary exposure, governance insight, and administrative acumen to deliver results from day one. For this reason, they appealed to the APC Elders’ Caucus to consider Osun West for the next governorship slot, and to allow Alabi to lead as a tested and trusted son of the zone.
Comrade Poju Oduola, APC Apex Leader for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, was particularly emphatic. He declared, “If I’m to choose, I will choose His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, BOA.” His statement captured the mood of the gathering, echoing the conviction of leaders across the constituency.
The consultation tour extended to Osogbo Federal Constituency, where Alabi was once again received with overwhelming acceptance and commendations. Leaders in Osogbo noted that BOA required little introduction, as his goodwill and record of service speak volumes. They particularly recalled his outstanding support for the people of Osun during the COVID-19 pandemic, applauding him as a compassionate leader who prioritizes the welfare of his people.
Expressing their solidarity, Osogbo APC leaders assured Alabi of their unwavering support, describing him as a man of vision, capacity, and proven integrity. They prayed for the success of his aspirations, urging him to remain steadfast in his mission to serve Osun with distinction.
In his address, His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi thanked the leaders and members for their warm reception and support. He emphasized the need for love, peace, and unity within the APC family, describing the governorship race as one of brotherhood in a united family. Alabi reiterated his commitment to running a campaign of issues, ideas, and service, promising never to betray the trust of the party and the people of Osun State.
