Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have dismissed speculations of a clash between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The elders, under the platform of the Ondo Mandate Elders Forum, made this clarification on Wednesday during a meeting held at the Akure residence of their chairman, Chief Erastus Alejo. They emphasized that their main focus is on strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at the gathering, the forum’s facilitator, Dr. Demola Ijabiyi, stated that there was no known disagreement between the two leaders.
“We do not recognise any discord between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo. What is being circulated is simply the imagination of social media influencers. There is nothing on the ground to reconcile,” he said.
Ijabiyi further stressed that the elders are committed to mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
“Our goal is to build cohesion within the party, resolve crises when they arise, and rally behind President Tinubu. Ondo State has over 1.9 million registered voters. If we could deliver over 60 per cent in the last election, we should be able to deliver more than one million votes for Tinubu in 2027,” he added.
According to him, the forum also provides a platform for political elders to remain active in party affairs and contribute their experience.
The meeting was attended by several party leaders and former public office holders, including former Chief Judge of the state, Justice Sehinde Kumuyi; ex-Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; former Commissioner, Femi Agagu; Chief Bailey Arohunmolase; Mr. Ebenezer Alabi; Chief Korede Duyile; Chief Femi Bakare; Senator Yele Omogunwa; and Chief Olabisi Johnson, among others.
