Arsenal forward Noni Madueke is set to be out of action for as long as two months after sustaining a knee injury, a source told ESPN.

Madueke was forced off at half-time during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday and underwent a scan on Monday, which confirmed the setback.

The injury further compounds manager Mikel Arteta’s attacking concerns, with Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus already sidelined.

The 23-year-old was replaced by Bukayo Saka, who himself was making a return from a hamstring issue.

Signed from Chelsea in the summer for £48 million ($64.6m), Madueke has quickly impressed, starting four of Arsenal’s five Premier League matches and proving effective on both flanks.

His strong club form carried into the international scene, as he started both of England’s September World Cup qualifiers and netted his first senior international goal in the victory over Serbia.

If he remains out for the full two months, Madueke is expected to miss Arsenal’s next two Champions League fixtures against Atlético Madrid and Slavia Praha, as well as up to six Premier League matches. He could also be in danger of missing the season’s first north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in November.
