Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal are currently the strongest contenders to win the Premier League title, ahead of both Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, the former defender also warned that the Gunners might begin to feel the pressure as the title race heats up in the final months of the season.

After eight games, Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table, three points ahead of Manchester City and four clear of Liverpool.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, Carragher said, “I feared this happening. Once that air of invincibility is gone, like we saw with Man City last season, every rival starts to believe they have a chance.”

Carragher, who spent his entire playing career at Liverpool, added that Arsenal currently look the most balanced and prepared side to go all the way.

“Right now, Arsenal look like the best-equipped team to win the title,” he said. “But they’ll get nervous in March and April because it’s been so long since they last won the league.”

He also cautioned Liverpool and Manchester City not to fall too far behind, noting that Arsenal’s inexperience in handling title pressure could still play a role later in the campaign.

“Liverpool and City have to make sure they stay close. Liverpool especially can’t afford to keep dropping silly points, they’ve already lost some, and I think they’ll lose more if they’re not careful,” Carragher added.
