The ancient town of Ido-Osun on Saturday held a historic triple celebration, as the Olojudo, Oba Olayinka Ishola Jokotola 11 marked first anniversary of his installation while also holding 70th remembrance of grandfather, Oba Ishola Adejumobi Jokotola 1.
The occasion also coincided with the installation of two new chiefs, the Aare and Jagunmolu of the Ido-Osun Alayemore Kingdom.
At the colourful ceremony, Oba Olayinka Jokotola reflected on his first year on the throne, describing it as a journey anchored entirely on divine grace. He said the past 12 months have been filled with progress, unity and the unwavering support of the people.
According to him, he has enjoyed exceptional goodwill from his community, royal families and all ruling houses in Ido-Osun.
“We give glory and adoration to Almighty God, the author and finisher of our faith. The one year experience has been awesome to the glory of Almighty God, we thank God for the love and support of my people, the community head house, my immediate family, and the entire royal houses in Ido-Osun. The one year has been so marvelous, everything has just been on God, I will continue to give praise and appreciate God,” Oba Jokotola said.
The monarch, who has initiated several early reforms in the community, said Ido-Osun is on course for global recognition in the coming years.
“In the next five years, you can even look at it within one year and see the total transformation. In the next five years, Ido-Osun should be well known and recognized across the globe,” he added.
Oba Jokotola also congratulated the newly installed chiefs, Olumide Ayobami Osasona as the Jagunmolu of Ido-Osun, and Abass Olalekan Ibraheem Agbelekale as the Aare of Ido-Osun, praising their longstanding commitment to the community.
He described both men as trusted sons of the town despite their residence in the United Kingdom.
“My new chiefs, the Aare and the Jagunmolu, I congratulate them and I wish them well. They have been wonderful persons and friends to this community. These are things we need to continue to encourage so that their mind will not be away from home,” he noted.
Speaking on how their installation will strengthen development, the monarch said the new Aare, in particular, has invested deeply in the kingdom.
“The Aare lives in Ido-Osun. He built his house here. There is no way he will not give back to the community. They have been living with us for over five, ten years. Now that they have chieftaincy titles, it will bring them closer to the throne,” he stated.
In his reaction, the new Jagunmolu of Ido-Osun, Chief Olumide Ayobami Osasona, pledged full commitment to supporting the monarch and contributing to the community’s progress.
“I will try everything possible on my side to support the community and to support the Kabiyesi and to support Ido-Osun,” he said.
The event drew prominent sons and daughters of the town, traditional chiefs, invited guests, and well wishers, all celebrating the continuity of Ido-Osun’s royal heritage.
