The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Professor Abdulgafar Siyanbola Oyeweso, Chairman of the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), describing his passing as a monumental loss.
Governor Adeleke noted that he was deeply shaken by the news, stressing that Osun State and Nigeria have lost one of their finest scholars.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Prof. Oyeweso, the Timi of Ede, and the entire Ede community over what he described as an irreplaceable loss. He also sympathized with the management, staff, and students of OAU, who have lost a distinguished leader and academic pillar.
“I am disheartened to learn of the unfortunate passing of Professor Abdulgafar Siyanbola Oyeweso, the Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University. Professor Oyeweso was an erudite academic who devoted much of his life to shaping young minds in the classroom,” Governor Adeleke said in his condolence message.
“On behalf of the good people of Osun State, I extend my heartfelt sympathies to his family, the Timi of Ede, the people of Ede, the OAU community, his mentees, and all who have been touched by this painful loss.”
Governor Adeleke prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Prof. Oyeweso eternal rest and to give his family, associates, and all who mourn him the strength to bear the loss. He added, “It is my sincere hope that his good works and legacy will continue to live on.”
