The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has published the full registration guidelines for candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The board shared the update on Sunday through its official X (formerly Twitter) account to help candidates avoid common errors during registration.
JAMB advised candidates to first ensure that their personal information such as their National Identification Number (NIN), email address and A-Level results is completely accurate before generating their profile code.
To get the profile code, candidates must send their 11-digit NIN in this format:
NIN 00000011111 to 55019 or 66019.
Once the profile code has been generated, the details cannot be changed because JAMB automatically retrieves all biodata from NIMC.
After generating the code, candidates should proceed to any nearby JAMB office or approved CBT centre to continue their registration.
JAMB also warned candidates to buy their E-PINs only from authorised platforms, including banks, online payment channels and certified vendors at registration centres.
Before final submission, candidates must cross-check the registration template to ensure every detail is correct, as errors may cause problems later.
Important Reminders to All Candidates
Make all necessary corrections with NIMC early including name, date of birth, gender and state of origin and confirm that the updates reflect before beginning registration.
Email addresses and phone numbers are unique identifiers. They must be personal, active and not shared with anyone.
Candidates with fingerprint or biometric problems must visit the nearest JAMB office. No CBT centre is allowed to force biometric capture.
Centres are required to use a dual-screen system so candidates can verify their passport photo and biometrics in real-time.
Common Problems to Watch Out For
JAMB also listed common challenges candidates face when generating their profile codes:
Error 55019/66019: This happens when the message format is wrong. Candidates must strictly use: NIN 00000011111.
“Number Already Registered”: This means the phone number is already linked to another JAMB profile. Candidates should retrieve the SIM or use a different number.
“Unable to Verify NIN”: This can occur when NIMC servers are busy. Candidates are advised to wait and try again.
