The Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON) has announced a call for abstracts ahead of its 32nd Annual Conference scheduled to hold in June 2026 at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The hybrid conference, which will run from June 7 to 10, 2026, is themed “GMO Science at the Crossroads: Balancing Food Security, Biosafety and Public Safety.” It is expected to bring together researchers, academics and professionals in plant science and related disciplines from within and outside Nigeria.

According to the organisers, the conference will focus on key areas including climate-smart botany, urban greening and environmental restoration; advances in plant taxonomy, systematics and data sharing; biodiversity conservation and sustainable ecosystem management; and the role of underutilised crops and wild species in food and nutritional security.

Other focus areas include ethnobotany and phytochemistry in natural product discovery; molecular biology, genomics and biotechnology in plant research; as well as plant–microbe interactions and soil health for sustainable agriculture.

BOSON urged interested participants to submit abstracts of their research findings on or before April 15, 2026, noting that submissions can be made online via [https://tinyurl.com/2mm2565b](https://tinyurl.com/2mm2565b) or by scanning the QR code provided on the conference flyer.

The annual conference serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration and discussion on contemporary issues in botany and plant sciences.
