Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved a new round of appointments and promotions as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across key sectors of the state.

The approvals were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, Abdulkadir Balarabe Kankarofi, popularly known as Alhajiji, has been appointed as Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Executive Governor. He was previously serving as Senior Special Assistant on Protocol I to the governor.

Also appointed is Aisha Tamburawa as Special Adviser to the Governor on Positive Propaganda. Tamburawa had earlier served as a Supervisory Councillor in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

In the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency, Mukhtar Yusuf was promoted from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director, while Zakari Usman Balan was appointed as the new Deputy Managing Director.

The governor further approved the appointment of Mukhtar Bello Maisudan, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, as the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board.

Similarly, Abba Kankarofi was promoted from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director of the Kano Road and Maintenance Agency.

Musayyib Kawu Ungoggo was appointed as the Managing Director of the Kano Zoological Garden. Prior to his appointment, Ungoggo had served in several political roles, including as a councillor and Senior Special Reporter.
Dawakin Tofa said the appointments and promotions were part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition key institutions for greater efficiency, accountability and effective service delivery.

Governor Yusuf urged the newly appointed and promoted officials to justify the confidence placed in them by discharging their duties with dedication, transparency and commitment to the people of Kano State.

He also charged them to see their new roles as a call to service and contribute meaningfully to the success of the administration’s Kano First Agenda.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and delivering people-centred governance across the state.
