President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to former First Lady Aisha Buhari as she marked her 55th birthday, describing her as an “Amazon” and a woman of courage and strong principles.

In a statement released by the State House on Monday, the President congratulated Aisha Buhari, noting that turning 55 is a significant milestone worthy of celebration.

“I join the family and friends of Hajiya Aisha Buhari to congratulate her on her 55th birthday. Fifty-five is a significant milestone, and I celebrate with the former First Lady on this occasion,” the statement read.

Tinubu praised her strength of character, saying she has never hesitated to stand by her convictions, even when it meant standing alone.

“Hajiya Buhari is an Amazon, a courageous and principled woman. She is not afraid to stand alone on matters bordering on her values and ideals. She is as certain as the North Star — a woman for all seasons,” he said.

The President also commended her humanitarian efforts, particularly through the Aisha Buhari Foundation, which he said has continued to support vulnerable groups across the country. He acknowledged her advocacy for the rights of women and children and her efforts in providing relief to struggling families.

“Through her foundation, she has upheld the rights of women and children and provided succour to many families. She is a voice for the unheard and the forgotten, championing causes that preserve family values and human dignity,” the statement added.

Tinubu expressed appreciation for her contributions to national development and applauded her resilience and discipline over the years.

He concluded by wishing her continued good health and happiness, praying that God grants her and her family many more years in sound health.

Since leaving the Presidential Villa, Aisha Buhari has remained active in philanthropy and advocacy, focusing on initiatives that support women, children and other vulnerable members of society.
