Rasmus Højlund has opened up on his resurgence at Napoli, admitting he has rediscovered his happiness after a challenging stint with Manchester United.

Speaking in an interview with TV2, the Denmark international acknowledged that his time at Old Trafford did not go as planned, but says his move to Italy has brought a positive turnaround in his career.

Højlund joined Manchester United from Atalanta in 2023, but struggled to make a significant impact, leading to his loan move to Napoli last year.

Reflecting on that period, the 23-year-old admitted his performances fell below expectations.

“If we look at my recent time at Manchester United, I didn’t perform well. I’m aware of that,” he said.

Despite facing criticism back home in Denmark, Højlund insists he never lost belief in himself. Now at Napoli, he says he has found a renewed sense of confidence and enjoyment.

“They even said I was finished in Denmark, but I never gave up. At Napoli, I feel joy again,” he added.

His comments suggest a fresh start in Serie A, as the striker looks to rebuild his form and confidence with the Italian champions.
