A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The decision was made public on Monday by the faction’s state chairman, Raji Sulaiman Zumo.

Also affected by the suspension is former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

The move comes amid deepening internal divisions within the party at both state and national levels. A separate faction of the ADC, led by Nafiu Bala, has been contesting the position of national chairman, further complicating the party’s leadership structure.

The ongoing dispute recently drew the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission, which responded by withdrawing recognition of the party’s leadership under former Senate President David Mark.

The latest suspensions are expected to intensify the crisis within the ADC as rival factions continue to battle for control of the party ahead of future elections.
