The Anambra State Police Command has rolled out a major security plan ahead of the upcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, deploying 60 specially trained “Safe School” operatives across centres in the state.
The UTME, scheduled to run from April 15 to 26, 2026, will see heightened security presence aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly exercise for all participants.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, explained that the operatives have been strategically positioned across the state’s eight Area Commands. He noted that the operation is being supervised by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Harrison Oruruo.
According to Ikenga, the deployment is part of the Command’s proactive approach under its “Safe School Initiative,” designed to create a secure environment for candidates, invigilators, and exam officials.
He added that beyond maintaining order, the officers are also tasked with preventing examination malpractice, disruptions, and any potential security threats throughout the examination period.
Reassuring residents, the police spokesperson emphasized the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He also called on candidates and other stakeholders to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with security personnel to ensure a smooth and successful examination process.
