The Osun Health Insurance Agency has commenced arrangements to enroll traditional rulers and their spouses into the state health insurance scheme as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare across Osun State.

The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Osogbo, noting that the initiative was in line with the directive of the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.

According to Akindele, the move demonstrates the commitment of the Adeleke administration to ensuring qualitative, accessible and affordable healthcare delivery for residents of the state, irrespective of status or background.

He explained that officials of the agency would begin visits to palaces of traditional rulers across the state from Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for the registration and enrollment exercise, which is expected to last for two weeks.

“The present administration remains passionate about the health and wellbeing of the people, hence the decision to extend the benefits of the State Health Insurance Scheme to revered traditional institutions across the state,” Akindele said.

He added, “The gesture is aimed at strengthening healthcare access for royal fathers and their spouses while appreciating their immense contributions towards peace, unity and development in Osun State.”

Akindele also assured residents that the agency remained committed to implementing people-oriented health policies that would continue to improve living standards and wellbeing across Osun State.
