A clash between members of Oodua Peoples Congress and Oodua Peoples Congress Initiative has reportedly left two people feared dead in Ikire, Osun state.
It was learnt that the crisis started on tuesday when a member of OPC was shot dead in the town. Deji Aladesawe, coordinator of OPC in Osun told newsmen that a member of OPC referred to as Olayode was shot dead despite the fact that Akire in Council had ealier tried to settle the dispute between the two factions.
Commenting on if the late member of OPCI was killed by OPC men in revenge, Aladesawe denied the involvement of his men in the death of a member of the rival group adding that the situation in Ikire was under control.

He said, “The suspect involved in the killing of the OPC member called him out from his place of work and shot him dead. The name of our member that was killed is Olayode. A member of OPCI was also killed in the clashes that followed the first killing. His name is Wasiu. “Police should investigate and apprehend all trouble makers.”
It was gathered that business activities in the town was paralysed on Thursday and streets were deserted.
A large number of riot policemen were also placed at strategic points in the town.
Special Adviser to Osun state Governor on Security, Abiodun Ige, told newsmen that the police were working to ensure oeace, adding that normalcy had returned to the town.
Osun Police PRO, Yemisis Opalola confirmed the incident, stating that there was unrest in the town.
