Moments after defecting to the All Progressives Congress from the People’s Democratic Party, the lawmaker representing Shinkafi Constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Mohammed Ahmed, has been shot dead.
Ahmed was killed by suspected bandits along Sheme- Funtua Road in Katsina State on Tuesday.
The Director-General, Press and Public Affairs, of the Assembly, Malam Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura made this known to newsmen in Gusau early on Wednesday.
Jafaru-Kaura said that the gunmen also kidnapped the lawmaker’s son and driver.
He said the incident occurred on Tuesday at Sheme in Kastina State while Ahmad was on his way to Kano.
“Ahmad was taking his son to a hospital in Kano. The lawmaker’s son and driver were kidnapped by the bandits,’’ Jafaru-Kaura said.
His funeral prayers would be performed at Sheikh Ahmed Umar Kanoma Mosque by 11 o’clock on Wednesday.
Until his death, the deceased was the chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation
