The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi on Tuesday held the first edition of Odun Eledumore at his palace in Iwo, Iwo local government area of Osun State.
Oba Akanbi said the motive behind the celebration is to appreciate God’s mercy and praise him higher that level of any deity.
The Paramount Ruler of Iwo said the day was dedicated to appreciating the Supreme God and King of Kings.
“This is to celebrate God. Because if you see the life of God that serves us, the servant, the security guard. He doesn’t eat, drink, He doesn’t have a wife. Neither goes to a party. He’s a pure servant, what do you do to a servant? You should appreciate your servant and say thank you.
“We keep sending this servant errands every day and we gave him little food to praise him and celebrate him. That is why I give today to the King of all Kings, the Master of the universe, the Supreme, Paramount ruler of the whole world, the one who created everyone, the sun, the sky, the sea, and everything, we celebrate Him today in worth too much.
“I cannot be second in command to any deities, being second in command to a deity mean you are a servant of a deity. I cannot be a servant to any idol. I have the commandment and authority.
“Only a king Yoruba land that they greet the same way they greet God “Kabiesi” who is Kabiesi am I the kabiesi, I’m representing the real Kabiesi, who is the God of gods and everything I have ever been. We are not saying any prayer today all we will do is to praise and thanksgiving and nobody to say a prayer today.”
Oba Akanbi said this is a new innovation that it’s is accepted by God. He added that he needs no acceptability from a man since it to be accepted by God.
Speaking at the programme, the Akire of Ikire Ile, Oba Olatunbosun olabamiji AbdulAziz described the Oluwo as a monarch of repute. He added that what Oba Akanbi has done is unique and unprecedented.
“Oluwo of Iwo kingdom of is using today to give glory to God for his mercy in his life, today program is a unique way to showcase the love that God showed to him, he invited people to celebrate God the more and appreciate him,” Akire said.
One of the clerics at the festival, Prophet, Evangelist Samson Oluwamodede also stated that the event is unique and one that has not been held anywhere in the world.
“This is a well wonderful and unique program. I’m a traveler, I’ve traveled around the world and I’ve not seen this kind of program. It’s unique in the history of this town. This is the first time I will see Christians and Muslims together under one roof and I’ve not seen any town or King that bring this kind of innovation it’s wonderful, unique and amazing.”
Popular Nollywood actress, Jomoke Odetola said the event brings together Muslims and Christians under a roof, thereby promoting unity and religious tolerance among adherents of faiths.
“This event is very uncommon, the essence of this whole event is for unity because there is no segregation in this gathering. The reason why we are having issues in Nigeria today is basically because of segregation. This is not part of me, this is different from me but here it’s about unity we have Christians and Muslims together acknowledge the presence of God.
“It’s something commendable and remarkable. Nowadays some issues have happened and we even forget the essence of living and we don’t give thanks to God whenever we wake up in the morning. Most times we wake up with another issues looking for how to survive.:”
Christians, Muslims and traditionalists used the avenue to praising the Almighty God as the Oluwo promised to make it an annual festival.
