Worms interfere with nutrient uptake, causing anemia, malnourishment, and impaired mental and physical development of every child.
These symptoms pose a serious threat to a child’s health, education, and economic potential. Infected children are often too sick or tired to concentrate in school, or to attend at all.
To avoid this, the office Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of the state of Osun on OMEALS, Alhaja Fauziyat Folakemi Olaniyan again flagged off another phase of deworming exercise for students of the elementary schools across the State.
The kick-off of the Deworming exercise in State was done on Monday at A.U.D Primary School, Gbonmi, Osogbo, the State capital.
The exercise led by the SSA and other staff of the scheme, will take place across all the government owned primary schools in the state.
Olaniyan stated that the essence of the periodic deworming exercise of home-grown School-Feeding programme is to give health messages to children prior to the treatment and to further stabilise their state of health”.
She added that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is committed to the wellbeing of all and sundry in the State, including the pupils of primary schools.
