Weight gain syrups have become increasingly popular among young Nigerian women who want to enhance their figures, according to a report by Economy&Lifestyle. Many women have turned to these syrups as a quick and cheap way to achieve curves, rather than relying on expensive gym memberships or cosmetic surgeries.

The report reveals that these syrups contain yeast supplements that aid in the enlargement of buttocks, breasts, and hips while keeping the belly flat. Mr. Adeji Oluwseyi, a laboratory scientist, explained that the yeast supplements in these syrups increase calories, which is beneficial for those who struggle to consume enough calories through food alone. However, these supplements can also have negative effects on the body, such as causing infertility and an increased sex drive, leading to infidelity in some marriages.

Miss. Toyosi Gbadegesin, an undergraduate, shared her experience of using weight gain syrup, saying that it had given her tighter, well-shaped buttocks, hips, and breasts. She also mentioned that the syrup had other benefits besides body enhancement.

However, not everyone is supportive of these syrups. Mr. Lanre Oshodi, an architect, shared his concern about his ex-girlfriend using drugs to enhance her body, which led to the end of their relationship. He worried about the potential damage these drugs could cause to the body and did not want to be associated with them.

Mr. David Moyosore, a gym instructor, noted that while exercises such as squats, lunges, and lateral walks can help get rid of hip dips and increase buttocks and hips, it requires a significant amount of money, time, and dedication. He also cautioned that using these syrups could be unsafe for the body, and the producers may not disclose the risks.

Social media is now filled with sponsored advertisements for various types of weight gain syrups, including Apetamin syrup, Oraxin syrup, and Dynewell syrup, with women making orders without considering the potential risks.

The report highlights the increasing trend among young women in Nigeria who are turning to weight gain syrups as a quick and cheap way to enhance their figures. While some may find them beneficial, the risks associated with their use should not be overlooked.
