In celebration of the International Women’s Day Women with Disabilities in Osun State were empowered to support their skill acquisition.
The programme was held on Monday at the Skill Acquisition center for Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPID), Ede.
Mr Olarewaju Oladosu, a leader of persons living with disability Ede community while delivering his speech, encouraged women with disabilities to shun thier limitations and look forward to a better future.
“Only 63 per cent of women are using the Internet in 2022 compared to 69 per cent of men. By 2050, 75% of jobs will be related to STEM areas. Yet today, women hold just 22% of positions in artificial intelligence, to name just one”.
“Many women’s with disabilities have generally poorer health, lower education achievements, fewer economic opportunities and higher rates of poverty than persons without disabilitie, but this challenge must not limit us, but will should use it as our stepping stones” Mr Oladosu said.
Speaking further, He added that United Nations Observe IWD with the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”, recognized and celebrated Women with disabilities too.
Adding that they are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
Mrs Isola, JONAPID Women Coordinator urged persons with disabilities to build a retaining wall and a functional ability to structure and leverage over barriers that is facing them on daily basis.
She also appreciate all NGOs, Faith-based organizations, civil society organization and charitable donors to helping women with special needs.
“We appreciates you all for the assistive mobility aid and technology, such as wheelchair, crutches, digital cane, hearing aid and low vision devices for person’s with disabilities.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Christianah Adewale, who expressed her excitement, appreciates the NGO for remember Person with Disabilities.
She urged others to support them.
