In a tragic incident, students from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology were involved in a severe lone crash on the Ojutu Bridge, Osogbo-Ilobu route on Wednesday.

The accident, as confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps, RS11.1 Osun Sector Command, involved a commercial white Mazda vehicle.

Reports indicate that the fatal crash was caused due to a speed limit violation which led to the loss of control of the vehicle. Of the eight individuals involved, five suffered injuries, including four male adults and one female adult. The crash also claimed the lives of three students: two male adults and one female adult

Immediate action was initiated by authorities in Osun. The injured victims were rushed to the Osun state teaching hospital in Osogbo and Onward Hospital Okinni for medical assistance.

Additionally, three mobile phones retrieved from the accident site were handed over to the state traffic department (NPF).

Collaborative efforts at the scene saw the involvement of multiple agencies, namely the NPF, O-Ambulance, and local vigilante groups.

The Sector Commander Corps Commander, Henry Benamaisia, responded to the tragic event by issuing a dire warning to motorists. He stressed the importance of driving within stipulated speed limits to prevent situations where loss of control could lead to heartbreaking loss of lives and property.

SRC Agnes Ogungbemi, representing the Sector Commander of Osun state, ratified the press release, reinforcing the imperative of road safety regulations for the public.
