The Osun State Police Command has warned that only the Governor, his Deputy and Speaker of the Assembly are allowed to cover their number plates.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola made this warning Friday in Osogbo.
She emphasized the importance of ensuring every vehicle plying the roads is registered.
She said covering of number plates is an offence and the police command is ready to arrest whoever found doing so.
When asked if political office holders are in the category, the police spokesperson said, “only the governor, the deputy governor and the speaker of the state assembly are allowed to cover. Any other person doing so commits an offence and we may likely meet with the governor to discuss this.”
Covering of number plates is commonly practiced by political office holders in Nigeria.
