Leon Edwards delivered one of the iconic moments in UFC history to flatline Kamaru Usman with a head kick knockout this Sunday morning, August 21, 2022.

‘Rocky’ became the second British champion in the promotion’s history, following in Michael Bisping’s footsteps, and the finish was as picture perfect as it was dramatic.

With only one minute left on the clock and many writing his title shot’s obituary, Edwards feinted forwards, drew Usman into a lean to his right, and unceremoniously dispatched him with a shin bone across the jaw.
The shocking defeat of the “Nigerian Nightmare” made it a double defeat for Nigeria, coming just hours after Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk defeated Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua on points in Jeddah to retain his WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO world heavyweight boxing belts.

The fight in Saudi Arabia was a rematch of the one in September in London, which Usyk won by unanimous decision to reclaim the belts from Joshua. (Partly based on a Daily Mail report)
