Moisés Caicedo has signed a new long-term contract with Chelsea, committing his future to the club until 2033.
The Ecuadorian midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023 for a then-British record fee of £115 million, has agreed improved terms that place him among the club’s top earners.
Caicedo has become a key figure in Chelsea’s midfield, making around 140 appearances across all competitions. His new deal underlines the club’s long-term confidence in him and follows a similar contract extension recently signed by captain Reece James.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Caicedo expressed his excitement about continuing his journey at Stamford Bridge.
“I’m very happy to extend my contract. I believe in this club and the direction we are heading. We’ve only just started, and there’s still so much to achieve,” he said.
He added that his ambition is to win trophies with Chelsea and eventually become a club legend.
The new contract is seen as a reward for his consistent performances and importance to the plans of manager Liam Rosenior.
Chelsea’s contract structure typically includes performance-based incentives, and while some players have been linked with moves elsewhere due to salary concerns, the club moved decisively to secure Caicedo’s future.
The timing of the deal comes amid a difficult run of form for the Blues, who are struggling in their bid to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. With just one win in their last seven Premier League matches, Chelsea currently trail the top-four spots by four points.
They face Manchester United in a crucial fixture at Stamford Bridge, as they look to revive their season.
Despite the positive news surrounding Caicedo and James, uncertainty still surrounds other players, including Enzo Fernández and Marc Cucurella, who have both been involved in recent off-field controversies.
