The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has said Lagos is strategically placed to emerge as Africa’s economic powerhouse, citing its strong geographic and commercial advantages.
Obasa made the remarks on Thursday while receiving the leadership of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), led by its President, Leye Kupoluyi, during a courtesy visit to his office.
According to a statement, the Speaker described Lagos as a pro-business and people-friendly state, noting that its policies and laws are designed to support economic growth and investment.
He maintained that Lagos remains the hub of Nigeria’s economy, stressing that even though Abuja serves as the nation’s Federal Capital Territory, the commercial strength of the country continues to be driven by Lagos.
Obasa further emphasized that the state offers one of the most attractive environments for investors in Nigeria.
“Lagos is the centre of Nigeria’s economy. We have always been pro-business and pro-people, and our laws reflect this commitment,” he said.
He added that the state’s unique positioning both geographically and economically places it on course to become a leading force on the African continent.
