The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed Monday, May 11, 2026, for its annual Policy Meeting on Admissions, where critical decisions including the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be finalised.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who noted that the meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, located in the FCC Phase III district of Jabi, Abuja.
According to him, the gathering remains a key event in Nigeria’s education calendar, bringing together major stakeholders to determine admission benchmarks, set guidelines, and outline policies for tertiary institutions across the country.
Benjamin added that the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, is expected to unveil important policy directions that will shape the upcoming admission exercise.
“The Board’s annual policy meeting on admissions is a crucial platform where stakeholders deliberate and agree on minimum acceptable UTME scores, as well as admission processes for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education,” the statement said.
He further explained that the meeting will formally set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission cycle, with an emphasis on strict compliance with established guidelines by all institutions.
Participants expected at the meeting include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers from tertiary institutions nationwide. Representatives of key regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) are also billed to attend.
In addition, goodwill messages are expected from agencies including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, among others.
The event will also feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), an initiative designed to encourage transparency, reward compliance with admission guidelines, and promote higher standards within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
