Police arrest suspected bandits’ informant in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of acting as an informant for bandits and recovered items believed to be criminal charms.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Katsina, noting that the suspect, Abdullahi Abdullahi, was apprehended following credible intelligence from the Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters.

According to Sadiq-Aliyu, the suspect confessed during interrogation to working with his brother in criminal activities, including issuing threats to victims.

“We called a victim and demanded the sum of N10 million or we would kill him,” the suspect reportedly admitted.

The police spokesperson added that the suspect also confessed to participating in similar crimes in the past.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Ali-Fage, directed intensified efforts to track down and arrest other suspects linked to the case who are currently at large.

Ali-Fage reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling banditry, warning that individuals aiding criminal elements would be decisively dealt with.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
