No fewer than 30,000 music lovers turned up at the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday for the Mainland Block Party, a vibrant May Day celebration that brought together some of Afrobeats’ biggest names and rising stars.

The event attracted attendees from across Lagos and neighbouring communities, transforming the venue into a lively hub of music, dance, and street-style entertainment.

Headliner Seyi Vibez delivered a standout performance that many fans described as electrifying. His set, packed with popular hits, had the crowd singing along and cheering throughout, setting the tone for the night.

Other performers, including Small Doctor, Shoday, Muyeez, Kayode, and Boy Muller, also thrilled the audience with high-energy performances that kept the momentum going.

Security personnel and organisers were observed maintaining order despite the large turnout, as the venue reached full capacity.

Seyi Vibez’s performance emerged as the highlight of the event, with his blend of street anthems and emotionally driven songs drawing loud reactions from fans. Small Doctor also commanded strong attention, with many in the crowd dancing and singing along, underscoring his enduring appeal among street-hop enthusiasts.

Some attendees shared their experiences at the event. A fan, Tunde Ajayi, described the concert as impressive, noting that the lineup contributed to the massive turnout.

“This is a massive event. The turnout alone shows how much people love these artistes. Seyi Vibez was exceptional, and the energy from the crowd was impressive,” he said.

Another attendee, Chioma Eze, praised the organisation of the show, saying the performances justified the time and cost.

“I enjoyed every moment. From the upcoming artistes to the big names, everyone brought their best. It was a good way to celebrate May Day,” she said.

Ibrahim Lawal, who travelled from Ikorodu to attend, noted that events like the Mainland Block Party are gaining popularity among young people.

The Mainland Block Party continues to grow as one of Lagos’ fast-rising entertainment gatherings, offering a platform for both established and emerging Afrobeats talents to showcase their craft.
