The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who had been on its wanted list since 2025.
The suspects, identified as Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as “Baban Anty,” and Bello Yahaya, also known as “Baban Yambiyu,” were apprehended by operatives of Operation Sanity in Mubi following a robbery incident in the area.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were arrested in connection with an attack that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi.
Nguroje said the suspects, alongside two accomplices who are still at large, allegedly attacked a resident, Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and made away with cash and other valuables.
He explained that police operatives attached to the Mubi South and Mubi North divisions tracked down and arrested the suspects through sustained intelligence-led operations.
Items recovered from the suspects include stolen mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons allegedly used during the robbery operation.
The police spokesperson noted that investigations are ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the remaining suspects currently on the run.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining its crackdown on criminal activities and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Adamawa State.
