Norway has intensified pressure on FIFA President Gianni Infantino, with the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) announcing it will formally call for his resignation following the collapse of his controversial proposal to bring private investors into FIFA competitions, including the World Cup.
NFF President Lise Klaveness told reporters on Friday that Infantino no longer enjoys the institutional confidence needed to lead world football.
“He does not have the institutional trust required to lead FIFA in a stable manner in the current climate. There is no turning back for Gianni Infantino,” Klaveness said.
“We are going to ask the FIFA president to resign now.”
The announcement came a day after the Norwegian federation’s governing bodies met to review the leadership crisis engulfing FIFA and Infantino’s future at the organisation.
