Nigerian music star Anthony Ebuka Victor, widely known as Victony, has made a personal revelation he had never performed sober until recently.

Speaking on the Behind The Prestige podcast, which gained widespread attention on Friday, the Soweto crooner admitted that alcohol had been part of his pre-show ritual for years. But things are changing.

“I haven’t smoked in a while, and I’m trying to stay off alcohol as well,” he shared. “I want to do this tour sober it’s a big challenge. I’ve never been on stage without drinking, but I want to truly see and connect with my fans.”

The artist described this shift as part of a new, healthier lifestyle he’s embracing. He began focusing on his fitness just two months ago and says the progress has been steady.

Victony, who broke into the spotlight with his hit Holy Father featuring Mayorkun, also touched on the 2021 car accident that altered his life.

The tragic crash left one person dead and three others injured. In a 2023 interview, he called the experience a “blessing in disguise” that gave him a new outlook on life.
