Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reconciled his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, and aggrieved leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency, putting an end to weeks of political tension that threatened the cohesion of the ruling party in the state.

The peace meeting, held in Osogbo, was attended by Deputy Senate Minority Leader Dr. Lere Oyewumi, Osun PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi, and several senior party stakeholders. The reconciliation follows a vote-of-no-confidence recently passed against the deputy governor and some local party leaders by members of the PDP in Ife.

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Adeleke described the crisis as the product of communication breakdowns and external attempts to sow division within the party.

“Throughout this meeting today, I see Ile-Ife PDP very truly united. Now that we have traced the roots of the matter, I charge everyone to return to work. Ile-Ife is PDP territory, and we must sustain the tempo,” Adeleke said in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

The governor commended elders, senatorial leaders, and local party executives for their maturity in handling the matter, assuring that his administration has already delivered visible projects in Ifeland and will continue to do more.

Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, described the dispute as a “family affair,” adding that the resolution demonstrated the resilience of the party. He thanked all sides for choosing unity over division and reaffirmed the commitment of the PDP to strengthening its base in the state.

Insight Media recalled that On September 1, PDP leaders in Ife Federal Constituency passed a vote-of-no-confidence on Deputy Governor Adewusi, former PDP National Secretary Prof. Wale Oladipo, and Ife East PDP Chairman Olasunkanmi Makinde. They were accused of associating with former lawmaker Bimbo Ajilesoro, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Political insiders, however, hinted that the rift was partly fuelled by speculations about a potential change in the deputy governorship slot ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.

With the reconciliation now achieved, stakeholders believe the PDP across the four local government areas of Ifeland can close ranks, consolidate unity, and rally stronger support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
