For the first time since a court sentenced the Apetu of Ipetumodu, Oba Joseph Oloyede to prison, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has issued a clear directive on the matter.

The Governor during a State Executive Cabinet meeting directed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to take urgent action on the matter.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, Governor Adeleke described the situation as “ugly”.

Alimi saud, “He (the Governor) further instructed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to take action on the ugly development at Ipetumodu where the King was recently jailed in the United States of America.”

Oba Oloyede was jailed over COVID-19 scam to the tune of $4.3m.


Since his sentence, the community has been divided over the next step with many calling for his dethronement.
