A new development has emerged in the unfolding political drama surrounding Adesina Atanda Rabiu, just moments after he publicly withdrew his resignation from the Accord Party.
Rabiu had appeared in a video alongside the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Olumide Egbedun, and the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, where he announced his decision to retract his earlier resignation and reaffirm loyalty to the party.
However, shortly after the video surfaced, the lawmaker’s Personal Assistant, Adewale Adigun, sparked controversy with posts on social media suggesting that the move may not have been entirely voluntary.
In one of the posts, the aide alleged that the video statement was made under pressure and questioned its credibility, implying that the lawmaker may have been compelled to act against his will.
In a follow-up post, Adigun issued a more direct message, stating that the situation boils down to whether the Accord Party will grant Rabiu the ticket to contest the Iwo State Constituency seat in the 2027 elections, adding that there would be “no going back” on the demand.
The development has raised fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding the initial resignation and its sudden withdrawal, with indications that the move may be tied to internal political negotiations ahead of future elections.
As reactions continue to trail the incident, attention is now focused on the Accord Party’s next steps and whether it will address the concerns raised, as the situation continues to unfold.
