The Rashidi Ladoja has called on community leaders in Ibadan to prioritise security, urging them to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their domains.
Ladoja made the appeal during the installation of Mogajis and Baales at the Old Olubadan Palace, Oja’ba, in Ibadan.
According to a statement by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, the ceremony marked the first installation of such traditional titleholders since the monarch ascended the throne on September 26, 2025.
Addressing the newly appointed 22 family compound and community heads, the monarch emphasised the importance of grassroots leadership in tackling insecurity.
“As family compound and community heads… you need to be vigilant about what is happening in your environments,” Ladoja said.
He noted that the appointments were not merely ceremonial but came with significant responsibilities, particularly in ensuring the safety of lives and property within their communities.
The Olubadan, who also chairs the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, urged the leaders to collaborate with neighbouring communities and share intelligence to combat security threats effectively.
He further encouraged them to sensitise youths to join security agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Ladoja also reiterated the city’s resolve to clamp down on land grabbers, warning that their activities pose a serious threat to peace and stability.
A total of 14 Mogajis and eight Baales were installed in accordance with the state’s Chiefs Law and Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration.
The event was attended by prominent traditional titleholders, including Tajudeen Ajibola, Eddy Oyewole, and Sarafadeen Alli, among others.
