Tension resurfaced in Jos, Plateau State, on Wednesday as hoodlums launched fresh attacks on residents and motorists, despite the recent easing of the curfew by the state government.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that a young man was brutally killed along the road leading to the University of Jos permanent site after being attacked without provocation. The incident has further heightened fear among residents already unsettled by the ongoing unrest.

In areas such as Terminus, Bauchi Road, and Gangere, violent mobs reportedly smashed the windscreens of passing vehicles and harassed pedestrians. The attacks disrupted normal activities, forcing many business owners to shut their shops to avoid being caught in the violence.

Banks operating within the affected areas also temporarily closed operations as both staff and customers struggled to cope with the deteriorating security situation.

Residents identified the University of Jos corridor, Bauchi Road, Farin Gada, Tina Junction, and Chobe as the worst-hit locations, noting a significant decline in movement as many people chose to remain indoors for safety.
