The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked a viral notice claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement released on Saturday, the examination body urged candidates and the general public to ignore the report, stressing that it did not originate from the board.
According to JAMB, all arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain unchanged and will proceed as scheduled.
“The press release suggesting that the 2026 UTME has been postponed is fake and did not come from us. Candidates should disregard it, as all activities are going on as planned,” the board stated.
JAMB had earlier announced that the main examination will take place between April 16 and April 25, 2026.
The clarification comes shortly after the conduct of the 2026 UTME mock examination on March 28, which was affected by technical issues in some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country.
Out of the 224,597 candidates who registered for the mock exercise, 152,586 were able to successfully sit for the test in 989 centres nationwide.
The board disclosed that more than 20 CBT centres that experienced technical failures have since been delisted due to inadequate facilities.
JAMB also warned candidates to stay away from fraudsters, particularly those operating on WhatsApp and promising to manipulate or boost examination scores.
It emphasised that such activities are illegal and could lead to serious consequences, including cancellation of registration or withholding of results.
The board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible examination process for all candidates.
